| “DURAZZO”
FLOOR INLAY/ SUMMER HARVEST: This elegant casino is nestled
in the wooded areas of northern Connecticut, using nature and local
American Indian design motif. This Rockwell designed casino is very
unique, inviting and charming. As the main summer entrance to the
casino, a large floor medallion (12’ radius) with summer harvest
motif of Corn, Squash, and seven lucky Beans all in terrazzo was
proposed to greet and welcome the casino patrons. The logistics
of installation and fabrication was very important, since the casino
had to operate on a 24hours/7days per week bases. The idea was to
remove and cut the existing carpeting and concrete making the space
available for the medallion installation in less than 24 hours without
closing the summer entrance. “Durazzo” medallion was pre-fabricated
in three large segments for ease of transportation, and control
of installation. This summer harvest medallion was a pilot program
for many future floor medallions, such as the design and construction
of Phase II casino expansion. |
